Looking for a parterapeut Esbjerg?
I offer structured couple coaching for couples in Esbjerg who want to understand their patterns, communicate more effectively and create real change.
Maybe you are not constantly arguing. Perhaps that is almost the problem.
You may be living alongside each other rather than with each other.
Conversations become practical, defensive or predictable.
Small disagreements quickly turn into old arguments.
One of you talks more, the other withdraws.
And both of you may wonder: How did we end up here?
The good news is that a relationship does not have to remain stuck simply because you have been stuck for a long time.
When the same argument keeps returning
Many couples believe that their problem is the subject they are arguing about.
Money.
Children.
Housework.
In-laws.
Time together.
Communication.
But very often, the real problem is what happens between the two of you when the subject becomes difficult.
One partner raises an issue. The other feels criticised and becomes defensive. The first partner feels ignored and pushes harder. The second withdraws further.
Before long, neither person is really talking about the original problem.
You are reacting to each other.
This is where my approach to couple coaching begins.
I work with the pattern – not with who is right
My role is not to decide which partner is right and which partner is wrong.
Instead, I help you see what is actually happening between you.
That means looking at both Action and Relation.
Action is about direction, boundaries, decisions and change.
Relation is about contact, understanding, trust and connection.
A relationship needs both.
You can have plenty of love and still lack the ability to handle difficult situations. You can also be extremely effective at getting things done while gradually losing emotional connection.
The important question is therefore not simply:
“Who is causing the problem?”
It is:
“What are the two of us doing that keeps this problem alive?”
That question creates a completely different starting point.
What happens in my couple coaching?
I work very practically.
Rather than giving you a long theoretical explanation of relationships, I help you identify what you can actually do differently.
We may work with:
· the way you speak to one another
· recurring patterns of conflict
· boundaries and expectations
· responsibility and self-responsibility
· habits that have developed in your relationship
· differences in the way you think, react and communicate
· ways of handling difficult conversations
· the practical changes needed in everyday life
A central part of my work is Dialogue – a structured way of communicating that helps couples talk about difficult subjects without immediately falling back into their usual pattern.
The objective is not that you must agree about everything.
The objective is that you become better at hearing, understanding and responding to one another.
The decisive change
One of the biggest changes in a relationship happens when you stop waiting for your partner to change first.
That does not mean accepting everything your partner does.
It means asking yourself:
What can I change about my own contribution to this relationship?
Perhaps you need to become clearer with parterapeut Esbjerg.
Perhaps you need to listen differently.
Perhaps you need to set a boundary.
Perhaps you need to stop explaining yourself and start taking responsibility.
Perhaps you need to become more curious about what is happening rather than immediately defending your own position.
Small changes can have surprisingly large consequences when they interrupt an established pattern.
Four things you can start doing
You do not have to solve your entire relationship tonight.
Start with something smaller.
1. Stop trying to win the conversation
Winning an argument rarely produces a better relationship.
Try instead to understand what your partner is actually saying before preparing your counterargument.
2. Notice the pattern
When an argument starts, ask:
“What usually happens next?”
You may discover that the two of you are following an almost automatic sequence.
3. Speak from yourself
Instead of telling your partner what they are, describe what you experience, what you need and what you intend to do.
That creates much more room for a constructive conversation.
4. Change one behaviour
Do not make ten promises.
Choose one concrete behaviour that you can practise during the coming week.
Consistency is more valuable than enthusiasm that lasts two days.
Couple coaching is about building something that works
A good relationship is not one in which there are never disagreements.
It is one in which disagreements can be handled without destroying the connection between you.
You will still have different opinions.
You will still irritate each other occasionally.
You will still have difficult periods.
But you can become better at navigating them.
That is why I see couple coaching as practical relationship work rather than simply talking about problems.
The aim is to give you a better understanding of what happens between you – and then turn that understanding into new actions and new habits.
If you are looking for a parterapeut in Esbjerg
If you are searching for a parterapeut Esbjerg, because your relationship is struggling, you do not necessarily need to wait until everything has fallen apart.
Sometimes the most useful time to ask for help is when you can still see what you want to preserve.
And sometimes a couple does not need more love.
They need better ways of using the love that is already there.
If you would like to find out whether my approach is suitable for you, you are welcome to contact me for an initial conversation. We can talk about your situation and whether I am the right person to help you.
A parterapeut Esbjerg does not have to be about finding someone to blame. It can be about finding a way forward together.
